FloWatch911™ is a pipeline breach monitoring and notification system that will detect breaches in gas pipelines, locate the breach, send valve closure data, notify emergency personnel and pipeline management, and notify the general public with real time feedback from injured or special needs personnel.
The project has been sponsored by the National Science Foundation and is in its prototype state of development. This product could save lives and millions of dollars in lost property and product while minimizing damage to the environment. Similar research and design will be done for chemical, water, and oil pipelines. |
